Amazon India has launched the third edition of Machine Learning (ML) Summer School—an immersive programme that aims to provide students with the opportunity to learn key ML technologies from scientists at Amazon, making them industry-ready.

The free educational course will be conducted over four weekends in September covering eight modules on key ML topics, including supervised learning, deep neural networks, probabilistic graphical models, dimensionality reduction, and unsupervised learning, with a focus on fostering a strong foundation in theoretical concepts and practical applications.

ML Summer School is open to all engineering students enrolled in Bachelor’s/Master’s/ PhD degrees from any recognised institute in India and are expected to graduate in 2024 or 2025. They will have to take an online assessment test for entering into this programme.

"Our aim is to provide participating students with best-in-class training on a broad range of topics that are at the core of modern machine learning, from fundamentals to state-of-the-art," Rajeev Rastogi, Vice President of International Machine Learning, Amazon, said.

"The tutorial sessions, which cover the right mix of theoretical and practical knowledge, will be delivered by Amazon ML scientists, who are experts in their field,” he added.

According to Amazon India, the ML Summer School diverges from the conventional approaches that emphasise theory. It offers an application-focused learning method where participants not only grasp theoretical concepts but also gain hands-on experience, preparing them for real-world challenges.

The Amazon ML Summer School was first started in 2021, which saw participation from over 3,500 students.
