Accenture Wins portal implementation contract from State Government of Nagaland

Monday December 20, 2010 , 3 min Read

The government of Nagaland has awarded a 42-month information technology (IT) contract to Accenture (NYSE: ACN) to implement the state’s public service portal. Harnessing the power of the internet, the portal will be used to bridge the gap between the government and citizens by offering enhanced and efficient delivery of information and services through a common platform for speedy resolution of questions and demands from Nagaland residents. The project is expected to begin in Jan. 2011.

Under the terms of the agreement, Accenture will leverage its experience in leading large-scale implementation efforts to execute and manage the state’s portal, state service delivery gateway and e-forms for facilitating the delivery of services offered by multiple government departments. This technology transformation will enable access to quick information, alleviate administrative burdens by reducing the number of visits to government offices and departments, encourage e-interaction, enhance the government’s technological agenda, build synergies with the National Portal of India (NPI) and provide access to data and information. The portal will be a ‘one-stop shop’ where citizen’s can perform transactions online -- from placing requests for birth and domicile certificates to getting information on the state or upcoming events -- with increased speed and efficiency, anytime of day or night.

“The implementation of the Nagaland state portal will make most government services readily accessible to citizens and it will ensure the transparency and reliability of information,” said Krishna G.V. Giri, who leads Accenture's Management Consulting practice in the Health & Public Service operating group for the Asia Pacific region.“ The Government will be better positioned not only to share important information and social programs with citizens in even the most remote locations, but also better able to anticipate and meet future governance requirements while reducing administrative costs.” We are proud to be a part of this digital government initiative.

Mr. K.T.Sukhalu, Secretary IT&C, State Government of Nagaland said, “"This important initiative will provide significant benefit to the citizens especially in the form of a single gateway to citizen for service delivery. The proposed changes and the paradigm shift, calls for an attitude and mindset that is receptive to ICT based administration and ICT based delivery of services."
