Call for Principal Project Officer, CSIE, IIT-Madras

The Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CSIE) at IIT-Madras was founded in August 2010 with a focus on teaching and research related to social enterprise in India, and an aim to bring together the innovation and entrepreneurship aspects of IITM by creating knowledge and understanding that will be of relevance to the problems that the poor in India face.

CSIE is looking for top-notch professionals for the position of Principal Project Officer, Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIT-Madras with the following requirements:
  • Have an MS or PhD in Engineering (desirable)
  • Have a minimum of 8 years of work experience in the corporate field. The ideal candidate will also have some exposure to work in the development sector or with a social enterprise
  • Candidates must have a strong inclination towards research
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects
  • Ability to interact with faculty and students as will be required working within an academic institution
  • Ability to build relationships and partnerships with internal units of IIT as well as external partnerships
  • Ability to oversee multiple activities at the same time and guide a team of project officers in delivery of tasks
  • Ability to work with financials is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to coordinate educational programs in Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Job Role

  • The Principal Project Officer will be responsible for the overall running of the Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Responsibilities include:Coordinating faculty and student research projects
  • Issuing call for papers, for research topics
  • Evaluating submitted proposals
  • Coordinate education and research activities with guidance of the Steering Committee
  • Coordinating activities under the Social Entrepreneurship Minor stream
  • Engaging with external partners to establish research and training partnerships
  • Tracking project funding, and reporting on project activities
