JoGuru, a Travel Portal with a Personal Touch, Launches Today!

Sunday July 15, 2012 , 3 min Read

Last year alone, 950 million people on the planet undertook some sort of a trip. When you make travel plans these are some of the questions that arise: Where do we go? Who’s coming? How do we go? When? The questions are seemingly endless. To add to the confusion, searching for the right information for that simple trip becomes a task in itself. Finding interested people, fixing the dates and making the travel arrangements is a gargantuan task in itself.

JoGuru is a travel based search and networking site based on web 3.0 concepts that allows you to find, seek and organize your travel information at one place. It lets you connect with your friends and other helpful people from across the globe who can inspire you to plan your next fun holiday.

JoGuru was founded by a core team of 3: Praveen Kumar (Founder - CEO) an IIM Lucknow grad and has 5 years of work experience of setting up e-commerce portals in his previous organizations. He is extremely passionate about travelling and exploring new places. Saket Newaskar (Founder - Director) is a Management grad from MDI Gurgaon. He has 5 years of experience in Product development, Product management and Business development. Karthik Ramachandra (Founder - Director) is an MBA from IIM Indore. He has 2 years of experience in Business Development for new products and new markets. They are based out of Pune, India and Los Angeles. They also have a 30 member strong content team based out of London, South Africa, New York and Delhi.

We are striving to build a platform where travelers – enthusiasts and casual alike – can discover, connect and share information under one roof,” says Praveen.

There are two features which set JoGuru apart from other such portals:

Collaborative Search

JoGuru.com helps you find the information that is relevant to you. Using the powerful search engines your preferences are brought under one forum. This is made possible by their custom built search algorithm. Not only this, the Collaborative Search also helps you find and share information with your friends from within JoGuru and different social networks.

JoGuru Experts

There is a lot of tacit information out there which is not present on the internet. The best bet to experience a new place is to see it through the eyes of the locals. JoGuru lets users become City Experts and these experts help travellers and information seekers with their specific questions on that particular city.

JoGuru is about a month old and the initial responses have been great. They have already garnered about 12000 visitors and 60000 page views. A great start indeed.

Online travel domain is one of the most competitive sectors in the Internet industry. There are constant changes happening in the search algorithms of various search engines. For a concept like Joguru, one needs to keep tabs on various API changes happening with the site.

Plans are on for launching 6 different features over the next 6 months. A mobile app is expected to go live in the next 4 months. A surprise is in store with a game with an innovative concept planned.

Why don’t you visit JoGuru before planning your next trip? You might also want to try Touristlink for social travel. Also, check out some websites offering adventure sports.
