[Photo Sparks] How poetry meets painting – creative synergy at Galerie De’Arts in Bangalore!

[Photo Sparks] How poetry meets painting – creative synergy at Galerie De’Arts in Bangalore!

Saturday January 03, 2015 , 3 min Read

In the earlier 30 posts of PhotoSparks, we brought you creative photographs from an art fair, music festival, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, math museum, social hackathon, bookstore, co-working space, sensorium, lantern festival, outdoor ads, startup roadshow, computer museum, startup T-shirts, business cards, art therapy, Diwali rangoli, ecopreneurs, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators. In this photo essay, we showcase synergy between poetry and painting. Make YourStory’s PhotoSparks your regular source of photographs that celebrate creativity and innovation!

Meet Deepa Subramanian, a first generation entrepreneur – and also a ‘parallel’ entrepreneur. The first company she founded is a pharmaceutical chemicals firm which keeps her shuttling all over China and India. Her second company is diametrically opposite – an art gallery in Barton Towers on M.G. Road in Bangalore, called Galerie De’Arts (see earlier YourStory profiles of ‘artrepreneurs’).

The gallery has spectacular views of Bangalore and also showcases individual artists and special curated events like the current exhibit, ‘Poetry in Colours,’ which connects painting and poetry. Around the time of the passing away of the great poet Maya Angelou, a conversation between Deepa and the artist S.G.Vasudev triggered off the idea of featuring 13 artists’ works inspired by poetry. The collection features paintings and sculptures of Anamika V., Anuradha Nalapat, Balan Nambiar, Dimpy Menon, Douglas C., P. Gopinath, K. Muralidharan, Ravikumar Kashi, Rekha Rao, Sultana Hasan, Sumana Chowdhury, S.G. Vasudev and Yusuf Arakkal.

Much has been written about product synergy in ‘adjacent’ categories, eg. between iPhone and iPad, but here are vivid examples of creative synergy between two adjacent categories of art! What ideas does this photogallery give you of how you can connect your current startup to the next or adjacent level of innovation?
