Through tweet, PM asks for feedback on demonetisation through Narendra Modi app

When in doubt, tweet it out!

That's exactly what Prime Minister Narendra Modi did. The PM took to his Twitter handle, asking his fellow citizens for feedback on the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

Modi asked for their "first-hand view", requesting people to rate the reform measure on the Narendra Modi app, to which he provided a link. He also reiterated that he took a decision to ban the high-value currency notes to fight tax evasion.

He tweeted,

I want your first-hand view on the decision taken regarding currency notes. Take part in the survey on the NM App. http://nm4.in/dnldapp

On the night of November 8, Modi had made a surprise announcement that these two high-denomination notes would be invalid from the following midnight and gave a 50-day window for citizens to either deposit them in their accounts or exchange them at banks.

Though demonetisation has generally received a positive response, the lack of lower denomination currency in circulation and the failure on the promise to make it available quickly is hurting the common man in both urban and rural areas. Cashing in on this sentiment, the combined opposition has been disrupting Parliament ever since the winter session began.

Modi, who this morning spoke to his party MPs in Parliament, turned emotional and blamed the Opposition for deliberately misinforming the public about this important reform, which, he said, would help the country in the long run.
